Book Review: Wildflower by Neva Rae Bell
Rating 5/5 stars 🌟
I literally read this book in a few hours! I genuinely loved every page. I have followed Neva Rae Bell on Instagram for a long time before I realised that she had published a novel called Love and Omissions which I read and loved. When I saw that she had published a poetry anthology I had to get it straight away. I'm so glad that I did because it is one of the best anthologies I have read in a long time.
Wildflower is separated into six chapters that each fill you with a different emotion. The emotions come across so well. You go from feeling empowered to laughing to crying all in one book. I really loved the chapter titled 'She is a Self-Proclaimed Comedian' and I laughed out loud while reading it. A lot of people's poetry is very sad and emotional and I completely understand that. This chapter is completely unique because I haven't read comedic poetry before and Neva wrote it so well.
Neva is clearly a very strong woman and you can see that through the story she tells through her poetry. If you haven't read any of Neva's books then I truly recommend that you do. She has a whole host of genres (poetry, romance, fantasy) for any book lover to enjoy. I have The Sleeping Arrangement to read next from this wonderful author and I'm getting Branded for Christmas! I can't wait!
