Book Review: This Is Us by Witches n' Pink
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 stars.
Firstly, I want to thank Chloe Winstanley, curator of Witches n' Pink, for choosing two pieces of my own poetry to be published inside this anthology (We Were Young and at War and A Soul Once Lost). I am so grateful!
Now, let's jump right into the review!
I thought that Cody Lawson's piece at the very beginning of the book was brilliant and really set up the book well. I loved a lot of the pieces inside this anthology but enjoyed the end half of the book more than the beginning. I loved both of Michael Yamamura's pieces which are just before mine! The one that really sticks in my mind though is 'Dear Body' by Georgina Melendez which is written so well and such an important topic. I also think the title of this book is very fitting as each poem is a small piece of us for you to read.
There were a few mistakes in some of the poems which could have easily been missed but nothing major. I also was taught to never publish a poem or piece of writing without a title and thought it weird that because some poems didn't have a title they were named "Untitled". Maybe next time just leave it blank, or title your pieces! Overall, I loved this collection and I am so proud to be apart of it!
